You know how best laid plans quickly go astray? That’s what happened to me and my home decorating projects. A year after we moved in, I finally have my sewing/craft room in place. All the fabric neatly ironed and folded on my work top are those chosen for my Master Bedroom quilt.
Inspiration came from a couple different sources. To see a finished version of my vision, visit Judi Madsen’s website and take a look at this 120″ x 120″ beauty.
Judi’s inspiration came from this 40″ x 40″ baby quilt at Sew4Home. The quilt pattern has an awesome tutorial. It would be a great scrap quilt, too, made with complimentary colors. The blocks are assembled using 5 1/2″ x 5 1/2″ squares and 5 1/2 x 12 1/2″ rectangles (cut, not finished) joined with white sashing. How fun!
Both of these quilt inspirations were based on a yellow/black/grey/white color palette, just what I wanted to compliment the fabric I chose for our Master Bedroom quilt.
Here’s what my drapery fabric looks like:
After I settled on a pattern, off I went to shop for quilt fabric. I was blown away by the number of choices, especially in this palette. While the pattern calls for seven different fabrics, I settled on twelve and, believe me, I settled. Sometimes I would have my drapery samples with me, sometimes I didn’t. So, my brain has to get organized and make a decision on which ones to use.
Here are my choices:
What an exciting project! Once the strips are cut, I can begin to play around with placement. There are a few I’m favoring, but it’s going to be a difficult choice.
Which would you choose?
